Barnsley team accepts local hospice charity challenge
February is upon us and Store First Barnsley is approaching it with a bang by kicking off a charity challenge for their local hospice!
The Accumulator Challenge has been set by Barnsley Hospice. The idea behind it is to inspire local businesses to raise as much money as possible over the course of the month for this fantastic cause.
From this Thursday, 1 February, teams are challenged to turn £28 (£1 for each day of the month) into as much money as they can, in a host of inventive ways. The hospice loans the initial £28 to each team, which is then in charge of making it go as far as possible through a series of charitable missions.
Barnsley Hospice says: "We are throwing down the gauntlet to you and your team to auction, invest, run and fundraise your way to make the biggest profit in 28 days. Think creatively, think innovatively but most importantly think fun! You can do whatever you want to raise as much as you can as long as it is safe and legal."
Kicking off this Thursday at 8am, the challenge will run until 6pm on Wednesday 28 February 2018. After this, there will be awards for the teams who make the most profit and have the most creative fundraising idea.
Sam Birchall, the manager of our Barnsley storage centre, said: "We love to get stuck into what's going on in our local area. We also love a good challenge - so what better way to kick off our year's fundraising efforts than with the Barnsley Hospice Accumulator Challenge? We are all geared up to think of some weird and wonderful ways to raise cash, and we'll be calling on our customers to get involved too. May the best team win!"
Our Barnsley team will be competing against a host of fellow Barnsley businesses. They include Barnsley College, the Closet Queen, Churchfield Vets, CAPITA, Victoria Medical Centre, Wilby's, Hair Revolution, Yorkshire Psychotherapy, Barnsley Norse and Whites Bakery.
