Meet the team: Victor Petrescu, Northampton
In this week's Meet the Team feature, we head over to our Northampton storage centre to meet manager Victor. He answered some serious, and some silly questions about himself and his role at Store First. Read on to get to know him a little better!
What’s your full name and job title?
Victor Stelian Petrescu, Store Manager
Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?
All of them were very interesting and different between themselves. Before moving to the UK to do a masters course (what was in my head???), probably the most interesting job I had was in television. I reckon in English the job would be called image director, technical director or simply... director! :)
I was the one directing the technical staff for live shows (cameras, lights, sound, when to take advertisements and so on, everything during live show). This requires a good eye for details and multitasking. To see various VIPs on TV at home and thereafter to have the chance to talk to them before or after the show was a nice experience. Probably one of the most interesting jobs ever!
What 3 words do you think best describe Store First?
Secure, clean, modern.
Give us 3 words which best describe you.
Polite, hardworking, reliable.
Describe the most challenging thing you’ve ever had to do here.
Driving the Luton van. I have never ever driven a van before and I have jumped straight for the Luton van.
What’s your proudest moment at Store First?
The end of 2016, when we reached the target for all quarters!
Can you tell us an interesting, random fact about yourself?
I speak Italian.
Where is your favourite place to travel to?
Black Sea, Romania.
How do you define success?
Achieving all the Store First quarterly targets ;)
If a film was made of your life, who would you want to play you and why?
Me and… only me. I am the best person to act out my own life! However, if some superstar from Hollywood would insist, I would accept Marlon Brando. Too bad he's dead, hence it will still have to just be me!
Who would you be if you could be any person in history?
John F Kennedy. Just because he held so much power, definitely not because he was close to Marilyn Monroe ;)
If you could interview any person in history, who would it be and why?
Marilyn Monroe. Just for fun.
What would you drink if you could only have one drink for the rest of your life?
Milk. I like milk. What am I saying? It would be water. Too much milk would be bad. So, I pick up water.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
It would be: Ciorba de Burta cu Mamaliga, a Romanian dish, which would be translated as tripe soup. Maybe it doesn't sound it, but it is very tasty!
Which animal would you be and why?
I would be a pigeon. Like this I would fly all day at zero costs. Would be eco as well.
You're stuck on an island and can only take 3 things with you - what would they be and why?
A light, a candle and... Marilyn Monroe ;)
Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to know.
I can see really well in the dark (but the sun rays almost burn my eyes). As kid I used to have a pair of sunglasses with me all the time. Without them, on a regular day I was able to keep just one eye open at a time.
Tell us a little about you and your family.
I have a 4 year old son and I am very proud of him.
Who is your idol and why?
I don’t think I have one. I reckon where I was a teenager I used to have one. Even so, I do not remember who was. Maybe it was JFK, but I am not so sure. Even so, it wasn’t because of Marilyn.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I like shopping :)
What’s your favourite TV show?
I do not watch TV. I consider it a huge waste of time for those watching it and a great business for those making a living from it. Why waste time watching TV instead of going outdoors? Or spending time with family? We have just one life, why spend it in front of the TV?
What’s the oldest thing in your fridge?
I have absolutely no idea.
Do you have any hobbies?
I love outdoor activities, driving and travelling. I have already been abroad 4 times this year and I will go at least one more time. The more I travel, the happier I am. This weekend I’ve just been to Felixstowe for the first time ever (lovely place).
By the end of August I hope I will go again to Saint Ives, in Cornwall. I also like cycling. I have a very nice Rayleigh and whenever I have some spare time I go cycling. To bad there isn’t many place to cycle in Rothwell, where I live. To conclude, I reckon that life would be boring without travel.
Do you have any weird phobias?
I am a bit scared of heights and this is the only phobia that I have, or at least that I am aware of. I do not have a problem being in an airplane, it's just that if I am on something high I feel awkward.
If you could choose only one superpower, what superpower would you choose?
USA.
