Rising Star Brad scoops charity award
Blackburn self-storage centre assistant manager Brad Frayling was named Rising Star of the Year at the Pendleside Hospice Corporate Challenge Awards.
24-year-old Brad scooped the award, which recognised an employee aged 25 or under who had shown passion, determination and maturity beyond their years during the charity challenge.
The Pendleside Hospice Corporate Challenge takes place annually and sees businesses local to the Burnley and Pendle area compete to raise as much as possible for the charity.
This year, the companies involved raised more than £146,000 in total.
Brad was nominated in secret by his colleagues at the Blackburn storage centre, so was delighted to be named as one of the nominees at the awards ceremony, which was held at Burnley Mechanics on Friday, 1 November.
Judges said it was clear to see Brad's commitment to Store First's fundraising efforts.
Brad was instrumental in a number of charity activities, including collecting and hand-delivering more than 200 donation bags to Pendleside Hospice's depot, encouraging his football teammates to club together to donate to the appeal and organising a "guess the locker" competition in-store, to win mystery prizes.
Colleagues agreed Brad's award was well deserved after seeing his enthusiasm and energy for the various fundraising efforts which took place over the course of the four-month charity challenge.
Overall, the Store First team raised close to £2,000 in their first year of taking part in the Pendleside Hospice Corporate Challenge.
