Tips For Decluttering Your Garden For Autumn
We’ve put together some tips for tidying and decluttering in time for autumn and storing away any summer items from your garden.
As darker, colder days approach, it's a good time to prepare your garden to last through the autumn and winter seasons. Prepping it now means your garden stays neat, and you don't have to worry too much about what it will be like once spring rolls around again.
Clean and spruce up
Get a bucket of hot soapy water and scrub down your garden furniture, toys and bbq.
Ensure plant pots, hanging baskets, birdhouses and feeders are scrubbed free of moss and dirt and then store them away from frost and wind.
Prepare for the weather
Check your drains and gutters for any blockages and obstructions so they don't overflow during heavy rain.
Tie up any young trees or shrubs that are likely to become wind-damaged or fall over during storms.
Clear debris out of ponds, and put netting over it to stop any leaves and branches from getting in.
Store away bulky summer items
Large furniture, barbeques, umbrellas and paddling pools should be stored away during the colder months to keep them in good nick for next summer. Garden sheds and garages will ensure they stay dry and protected.
If there's not enough room or you don't have garden storage, using seasonal self-storage is a cost-effective solution to store bulky summer furniture and equipment.
